The First Bricks: Two $1 Million Donations Launch Aspen Center for Learning

We’re thrilled to share a monumental moment in the story of Aspen Center for Learning — we’ve received our first two $1 million donations. This is huge in our efforts in bringing this school of opportunity for adults with special needs to life.
The First Is Always the Hardest
In the world of fundraising, the first commitments are often the most difficult to secure. It’s one thing to believe in an idea. It’s another to step forward when nothing’s built yet and when blueprints are still being finalized. But that’s exactly what happened.
One of our first $1 million donors, who has chosen to remain anonymous, made a bold and generous commitment to something that doesn’t exist yet in Heber Valley — a school for adults with special needs. They saw the vision, recognized the need, and chose to act.
Soon after, a second donor — a parent of a child with special needs who deeply believes in Aspen’s mission — matched the gift with another $1 million.
Just like that, the first bricks of Aspen were set.
These gifts didn’t just help fund a building — they validated our mission and ignited momentum that we’re now carrying forward.
A Vision Coming to Life
Aspen Center for Learning is an ambitious project: a full-service learning and opportunity center for adults with special needs, complete with classrooms, continued education programs, job skills development, housing, a gymnasium designed for the Special Olympics, social spaces, and a cafeteria.
A place where adults with disabilities can live, grow, and thrive long after high school ends.
We are currently working toward an $11 million fundraising goal. Thanks to these two foundational gifts as well as others, we now have:
- $1 million secured land
- $2.3 million raised toward our $10 million construction target
- A growing network of families, educators, donors, and advocates helping us build the future
An Invitation: Will You Help Build Aspen?
With these first donations in place, the momentum is real. But we need more visionaries. More builders.
If you’ve ever wanted to make a difference for individuals with special needs… if you’ve ever dreamed of a world where inclusion doesn’t stop at high school… if you want to see purpose and joy come to life on a campus — now is the time to step in. Donations big and small are appreciated!
We invite you to join us in laying the next brick.
Let’s Build Aspen. Together.

Interested in getting involved?
We are currently looking for donors and partners to help bring the Aspen Center for Learning to life. We firmly believe that this center will offer life changing opportunities for countless individuals with special needs, just like our son, Tate. We look forward to hearing from all who want to help us bring this incredible vision to life.
